EXIT festival kicks off in Novi Sad

NOVI SAD - The best major European festival EXIT kicks off in Novi Sad on Thursday and its 15th edition, featuring some of the best performers in the world, will be spectacular, organizers say.

EXIT's strategic director Dusan Kovacevic told Tanjug that this year's festival program is balanced and intended to attract all generations. Based on the EXIT 2013 visitors' wish list, the line-up will include international stars who have never before performed in the region.

"The festival opening will certainly be spectacular. It is directed by famous creator and designer Es Devlin, who was in charge of the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, and it will include the legendary Pet Shop Boys," said Kovacevic.

"Before Pet Shop Boys take on the Main Stage for the opening ceremony, we will see the most popular francophone performer of today, Stromae,” said Kovacevic, adding that Disclosure Live are to play on Friday at the Dance Arena.
The Friday's line-up featuring the best new band of 2013 Rudimental and Gloria Gaynor on the Main Stage, has so far attracted most interest, noted Kovacevic.

Also on Friday, Carl Cox and friends will play at the Dance Arena, and Asian Dub Foundation tops the bill on the Fusion Stage.

Record crowds are expected on Saturday, when the Petrovaradin Fortress will host the world-famous Croatian duo 2Cellos, followed by Damon Albarn, one of the most influential musicians in the UK, and a closing set by DJ Skrillex, while the Dance Stage will feature Afrojack.
