7th International Students’ Folklore Festival begins in Nis
NIS - The 7th Students’ Folklore Festival, which has kicked off in the city of Nis in southern Serbia, will feature presentations of folk traditions from six countries by 11 ensembles and over 500 participants.
The festival is organized by the Students’ Cultural Center (SKC) in Nis, who gave a heartfelt welcome for the guests from Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland and Mexico on Wednesday evening.
The participants of the festival presented themselves to the people walking in a parade down a pedestrian zone in the city center.
Four other municipalities in the south of the country - the towns of Bela Palanka, Vladicin Han, Knjazevac and spa town Niska Banja - will also host concerts of folk songs and dances as part of the event.
“The whole city loves this summer festival, and it loves when so many people from all over the world come to visit us during the summer days,” Aleksandar Strahinic of the SKC has told Tanjug.
The folklore festival will round out with a revue concert featuring all of the festival’s participants at the Nis Fortress’ summer stage on Sunday.
