Two students of UMF Cluj-Napoca among victims of Ukraine jet crash
Two of the passengers killed in the airplane crash occurred on Thursday in eastern Ukraine, close to the border with Russia, were students of the Cluj Napoca University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF).
The two were students in the second year of the UMF Cluj-Napoca Faculty of Medicine, at the English language study program.
According to Dean of the UMF Faculty of Medicine Anca Buzoianu, the class secretary learned the tragic news on Friday morning.
"The flag is flown in mourning on the buildings of the Deans' offices, in a tribute the leadership of the Faculty of Medicine and of UMF brings to the two students who died so tragically. The UMF students are organizing to pay a final homage to their colleagues from the second study year of the Faculty of Medicine, English section, who died in the plane crash. One of them had dual citizenship, Romanian and Canadian, the other was a German national," said the Dean of the UMF Faculty of Medicine.
According to a release of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the passenger list made available by the plane's operator Malaysian Airlines includes a passenger with dual citizenship, one of which is Romanian.
The Foreign Ministry also said that the family of the Romanian citizen was informed by the authorities in the respective person's country of residence and the Romanian authorities also got in touch with the bereaved family.
"The family of the victim requested that no personal data of the victim be made public whatsoever," the Foreign Ministry informs.
