Thunderstorms Consequence of Climate Changes
Thunder and Lightning in Belgrade two Nights in Succession Thunderstorms Consequence of Climate Changes
Devastating storms, whirlwind, unprecedented hail, and abundant rains are consequences of climate changes, experts warn.
The storm that Belgrade experienced the night before was followed by unprecedented thunder strikes. The most dramatic situation was in Jajijnci, where lightning lit the lamp post. While meteorologists explain frequent storms with annual change of dry and wet weather, ecologists say that extreme thunderstorms are connected with global changes of climate.
- Such thunderstorms are directly connected with climate changes. Thunder, sudden downpours, hail, all that used to happen before, but not so often and not so intense. It would usually happen at the end of August, and now the whole summer is like that. In the last two years these changes are really visible. For the whole decade we don’t really have four seasons of the year, but we get directly from winter into the summer. The whole Europe is affected by changes. And it is reflected in the nature - explains Marina Drndarski, biologist and ecologist.
Scientists have noticed global phenomena they can’t explain, which proves big climate changes - says Drndarski.
-Some scientists have noted that there is more ice on the south Earth hemisphere, while the Arctic ice is melting. That was noticed at satellite images, but it was not determined why did it happen. What happens to us these days is exactly a part of these climate changes- says Drndarski.
Nedeljko Todorović from Hydrometeorological Institute is sure that succession of dry and rainy periods is common, and he says that we have had a very rainy summer...
