DefMin Dusa meets US Under Secretary of Defence for Intelligence Vickers

Romanian Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa assured U.S. Under Secretary of Defence for Intelligence, Dr. Michael G. Vickers that Romania maintains firm position on developing the relations with the U.S. in the defence field, under the "Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century."

The two officials met on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defence (MApN), the ministry's Press Office informed in a release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.

On this occasion, Minister Dusa praised the U.S. for supporting the training of the Romanian personnel and the development of capabilities, as well as for providing equipment and logistical assistance to the Romanian troops deployed to Afghanistan.
During the talks, emphasis was put on the excellent relations as far as the exchange of intelligence is concerned, the two sides being willing to further develop the bilateral cooperation in this sector.

According to the release, the two dignitaries also approached topics related to NATO's future mission in Afghanistan, stressing the need to continue cooperating in this theatre of operations after 2014.AGERPRES
