DefMin Dusa: Romania, 6th largest contributor of foreign troops to missions in Afghanistan

Minister of National Defence Mircea Dusa said on Sunday, in Oradea (northeastern Romania), that Romania was the sixth-largest contributor of foreign troops to military operations in Afghanistan, but it also paid a heavy toll, with 23 troops killed in this theatre of operations.

National Defence Minister Mircea Dusa in a meeting with US Embassy Charge d'Affairs Dean Thompson on Wednesday said that the situation in Ukraine represents 'a reason to worry both for NATO and for Romania, as ally state.'

Besides the situation in Ukraine, the two officials also talked about the development of the situation in the Middle East.

Ponta: We shall earmark 50 million lei to flood-affected counties

The Government will earmark 50 million lei for removing the effects of floods in the Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Olt, Teleorman and Prahova counties, Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced on Thursday.

Victor Ponta also added that, if necessary, funds will also be approved for Timis and Caras-Severin counties, after some assessments are carried out first.
