300 YEARS SINCE MARTYRDOM OF BRANCOVEANU/ Brancovian Palace in Potlogi, currently in restoration
One of the most important architectonic monuments in the country, the Brancovenesc Palace in Potlogi (e.n. - so titled in honor of the palace's founder, ruler Constantin Brancoveanu) is now in a process of rehabilitation and consolidation.
The Dambovita County authorities hope to reintroduce it in the tourist circuit starting with next year.
"For us, the Brancovian Palace is a source of pride. The fact that funds for rehabilitation were accessed, the fact that we, the Town Hall, and the Potlogi Parish have managed, using European funds, to restore the Princely Church, is a great thing. The Palace, after restoration, will be re-entered in the tourist circuit. Tourists already started visiting the church, even though the palace is momentarily closed", said mayor of Potlogi Nicolae Catrina.
The Palace complex in Potlogi is considered a historical monument of national importance and is representative for late 17th century residential architecture.
The total value of the project in Potlogi is of 42.8 million lei. The specific objectives of the investment are the rehabilitation, restoration and reconstruction of the palace complex in Potlogi, as well as increasing the number of tourists visiting this monument.
The buildings of the complex occupy 3,400 square meters while the grounds of the complex amount to 23,000 square meters.
The paperwork filed by the Dambovita County Council before works began show that the palace was in a state of disrepair, large cracks being observed both in the structure and in the decorative elements around the doorways and windows.
