Stjepanovic wins 400m freestyle gold

BERLIN - Serbian swimmer Velimir Stjepanovic won the men's 400m freestyle gold medal at the 32nd European Swimming Championships in Berlin.

Stjepanovic led the final race from the start and claimed his first gold in the European championships by setting a personal record of 3:45.66.

In the qualification round, Stjepanovic recorded sixth-ranking time of 3:49.49.

One more Serbian swimmer, Stefan Sorak, came out 35th, with the recorded time of 3:55.15.

Britain's Stephen Milne claimed the top place with the recorded time of 3:48.62.
