Labor minister: Government approves draft laws regarding fiscal amnesty for pensioners and mothers

The Government has approved the draft laws regarding fiscal amnesty for the pensioners and mothers who have received child benefits and have become debtors not of their own doing, said Labor Minister Rovana Plumb on Tuesday at the Government House.

"Care for pensioners, for parents and for children are major and constant concerns of the (Victor) Ponta Government. We have kept our word and, as we have stated and proposed on August 1, the Government has adopted two draft laws today, that have been sent to the Parliament so they may be adopted by this forum, regarding fiscal amnesty for pensioners and mothers who have child benefits", said the labor minister.

The draft law that provides for an exemption from paying debts for pensioners is addressed to "all categories of pensioners in the pension system until the entry into force of the law", said Rovana Plumb.

"Furthermore, it provides for an exemption from paying debts for all pensioners, with the exception of those debts accrued due to the exclusive fault of the pensioners. Meaning those who submitted false statements and false documents. The Pensions Administration has the role of checking all these files. Currently there are 30,000 persons, pensioners, in this situation, that have accrued debts totalling 65 million lei. I must mention the fact that none of these debts will affect the social securities budget on 2014", the minister explained.

She stated that a second law draft approved by the Government and sent to the Parliament for debate and adoption provides for fiscal amnesty for mothers that have accrued debts due to gaining additional income during the time they stayed home, raising their children and receiving the indemnity.
