Gasic, Dikovic congratulate Military Museum on anniversary

BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic congratulated the Military Museum employees on the institution's foundation day, August 22.

“The tradition long over 130 years and the fact that you managed to preserve the Serbian heritage even in the most trying of times makes this day all the more valuable,” Gasic said in his note of congratulations.

“By the exhibitions to mark national and military holidays and the international cooperation which helped present the Serbian culture and tradition to the world, you have shown the right way to cherish the national spirit and tradition,” Gasic said in the note of congratulations posted on the Defence Ministry's website.

Dikovic underscored that since its foundation by the Decree issued by Prince Milan Obrenovic in 1878, the Museum has always occupied a prominent place among the institutions of Culture in Serbia and has given an important contribution to the preservation of the tradition in the Serbian Armed Forces.

“I congratulate you on your holiday, and I wish that you may remain successful in the realisation of planned projects in the areas of culture and tradition,” Dikovic said.

The Belgrade Military Museum will celebrate the 136th anniversary of existence and honour the day back in 1878 when Prince Milan Obrenovic founded the institution through his Decree.

Within the celebration of the Day of the Military Museum, the exhibition will open at the Kalemegdan Fortress under the title 'Regiment and volunteer flags from the Great War', which was authored by Andjelija Radovic.
