BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic, who is also minister of trade, tourism and telecommunications, has been invited to attend the prestigious annual Partnership Summit 2015 in India, the Indian embassy in Belgrade has said.
The invitation of Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman was handed to Ljajic on Tuesday by Indian Ambassador to Serbia Narinder Chauhan, the embassy said in a statement.
The Partnership Summit, organised by the Indian government in collaboration with the government of the Indian state of Rajasthan and the Confederation of Indian Industry, will be held on January 15-17 in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The meeting will be attended by trade and business representatives from India and all over the world.
Attendance of the event will provide Serbia with a unique platform for establishing a network of collaboration, as well as an opportunity to present its economic situation to Indian businesspeople, the statement said.
At the previous summit, the Serbian delegation was headed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
Indian companies showed interest in the Serbian economy and said that regular contacts between the two sides are vital for improving economic cooperation.
Both sides expressed hope that the upcoming meeting of the Indian-Serbian economic committee, scheduled to take place on September 19 in Belgrade, will offer an opportunity to further strengthen relations through a visa-free regime, revisions of existing agreements and an assessment of potential new fields of cooperation.
The two sides also highlighted the possibility of cooperation in tourism.
