Bulgarian Police Nab 14 Tonnes of Cannabis Near Sandanski
Nearly 14 tonnes of cannabis plants were found and destroyed in a police raid in the village of Lebnitsa in Southwest Bulgaria, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Blagoevgrad reported.
Around 2,780 plants with a gross weight of about 13,900 kg were found in the Ribarnitsite area near the town of Sandanski during a specialized operation. The plants tested positive for cannabis, private TV station Btv reports.
Meanwhile, the local police in the Sandanski municipality found 23 cannabis plants with a gross weight of 115 kg in a field near the Kashina village, Wednesday.
Pretrial proceedings were initiated in both cases.
