Bulgaria Energy Watchdog Proposes 9.8% Rise in Power Prices
Bulgaria's energy regulator on Friday proposed to raise power prices for households by 9.79% on average as of October 1 to help cut the financial deficit in the energy sector.
The increase aims to boost the revenues of cash-strapped National Electricity Company (NEK) by BGN 199.3 M and stimulate the liberalization of the electricity market, the regulator, DKEVR, said in a statement.
DKEVR's Chairwoman Svetla Todorova said on Wednesday there would be no increase in heating tariffs despite the request submitted by state-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz to increase gas prices.
