Olsi: I had nothing to do with incident

TIRANA - The brother of the Albanian prime minister Olsy Rama stated on Wednesday that he has nothing to do with the incident which occurred during the football match between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade and added that he was not arrested or detained over the event.

He noted that he does not understand where the rumours came from and stressed that he was neither arrested nor detained. He said that the situation turned chaotic after the incident occurred and the police requested everyone's IDs, adding that he showed them his U.S. passport and camera and the whole check took a couple of minutes.

The match was interrupted in the 41st minute, after the incident involving a drone pulling an attached flag of a Greater Albania.

The official information about the actual developments after the incident has not been not released and unofficial sources say that the police had talks with Olsi Rama in the VIP section at the Partizan Stadium in the presence of Belgrade police chief Veselin Milic on suspicion that he organised and ran the incident involving the Albanian flag after which the match was interrupted.

In the meantime, Rama and three more individuals who came with him to the match returned to Tirana.

Commenting on the event, Olsi Rama said that he took photos of the event on his phone camera and that he liked the event although he had nothing to do with the incident, the Albanian daily Shekulli said.

Olsi's brother Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated the Albanian players on their dignified and sportsmanlike behaviour in Belgrade, and expressed regret that the hosts allowed such a grave incident to happen which led to the interruption of the match.
