Famous Russian choir Glinka to open 46th BEMUS

BELGRADE - The 46th Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS) as the festival of art music and one of the biggest city events established back in 1969 will open in Belgrade's Sava Centre on Monday evening by a performance of the Russian choir Glinka with Vladislav Chernushenko as the conductor.

This year's BEMUS will be open until November 1 and it was organised by the newly-founded Belgrade Festivals Centre (CEBEF) comprising BEMUS executive producer JUGOKONCERT.

The rich festival programme rests on three focal points, the 100th anniversary of the Great War, the 100th anniversary of the death of Stevan Mokranjac and the 30th anniversary of the death of Vasilije Mokranjac and Marko Tajcevic.

According to an announcement issued by BEMUS artistic director, famous Serbian composer and professor of the Faculty of Music Arts Svetislav Bozic, the 46th BEMUS events will gather the supreme art masters.

In addition to the Glinka choir, BEMUS will also feature the performance of pianist Alexander Sinchuk who will play two masterpieces of world music literature in the night of his appearance, Concerto No. 2 and Concerto No. 3 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Russian cellist, conductor, pianist and pedagogue Alexander Rudin will perform at the solo concert on Saturday, October 25, and he will play pieces by Johann Sebastain Bach. On the following night, he will perform together with the Moscow chamber orchestra Musica Viva he has been heading for over two decades now. Slovenian clarinet player Darko Brlek will deliver a solo performance during the festival as well.
