SYRIZA's Lafazanis pledges immediate action on bailout, Tsipras promises

Outspoken SYRIZA MP Panayiotis Lafazanis insists that if his party comes to power it will cancel Greece’s bailout agreement “overnight.”

Lafazanis added that the policy pledges made by SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras at last month’s Thessaloniki International Fair would be implemented from the first day of government and without prior consultation with Greece’s lenders.

However, on the issue of Greece’s debt, Lafazanis said that a SYRIZA government would not make any unilateral moves.

“We will not take a sponge and wipe it all out,” he said. “We will try to get the largest part written down.”
