ACL candidate Iohannis wants to change parliamentary election legislation
Presidential hopeful of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) Klaus Iohannis, told an election rally on Saturday in Cluj-Napoca, central Romania, that if he wins the office of Romania's president he will take action to change the parliamentary election legislation.
'There is one thing I want to say clearly: we have to change how election is being held for Romania's Parliament. We have a parliament that is way too big, way too inefficient and one that has no shred of credibility left. In my capacity as the next president, I will call on the political parties to meet me for consultations to change the parliamentary election legislation. Some years ago a legislation was invented that told us will represent us better. To what has that led? To a parliament of nearly 600 seats that does not enjoy any shred of public respect. And I also tell you we need a smaller, two-chamber parliament working for the citizens because Romania of well-done things means a country where the rule of law reigns. That means a parliament that works and is respected,' said Iohannis.
Iohannis on Saturday took part in an election rally at the Lucian Blaga Square of Cluj-Napoca, where, according to organisers, more than 18,000 ACL sympathisers from the entire region of Transylvania attended. AGERPRES
