Enamored with Romania, Italo De Michelis says he's here to stay
Italo De Michelis, the manager of the only Italian restaurant in the city of Miercurea Ciuc, is in love with our country and in the ten years since he moved here he taught the Romanians and ethnic Hungarian locals to appreciate Italian cuisine, and his friends to see Romania with different eyes.
Italo De Michelis' Romanian adventure began in 1999, when he came to our country on a hunting trip and also visited a friend in Miercurea Ciuc on the occasion. He says he was enraptured by the scenery — the surroundings, the woodlands — and as apartment prices were very small, the idea occurred to him to return and buy a house here. The next summer he returned to Miercurea Ciuc and bought an apartment in the city centre, 'not only because it was a good deal', but also to have a place to stay when he came on vacation. And so, Italo made a habit of returning every summer to Miercurea Ciuc and became increasingly acquainted with our country.
