PM's counsellor Socol: Presidential candidate Iohannis dangerously lies about taxes
Prime minister's counsellor Cristian Socol says presidential candidate Klaus Iohannis of the Christian Liberal Alliance is 'acting dangerously' when mentioning the possibility of progressive income tax being reintroduced and of taxes being raised in 2015.
'I have noted Sunday's declarations of ACL's presidential candidate, who — based on rumours worthy of a better cause — asserted that in 2015 there might be significant tax increases, or even an increase of the single bracket tax, if not giving it up altogether. Klaus Iohannis shows the utmost irresponsibility, all the more that he wants to be the president of Romania,' Socol told AGERPRES on Monday.
He also asserted that the candidate 'jeopardizes Romania's credibility by launching such unfounded rumours.'
'There's also a lot of demagogy in spreading such rumours, as they concern the activity of a government that cut the VAT for bread, cut the social contributions, offered stimulus packages for businesses and officially considers new tax reduction steps for 2015. I am asking Mr. Iohannis to keep such sensitive — matters — on which unfortunately he is incompetent anyway — out of the elections campaign,' Socol added.AGERPRES
