President Traian Basescu said on Tuesday he is ruling out the possibility to have received money from Microsoft in the electoral campaign in 2009, when he won his second term.

'I rule out this possibility, that someone might have come and given me money from Microsoft for the campaign. It's childish', Basescu told Adevarul Live.

The head of state made the remarks in answering a request to comment the statement made by independent candidate for this Sunday's presidential elections, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu that the participation of businessman Dorin Cocos in Microsoft affair had allegedly been aimed at also funding Basescu's presidential campaign from 2009.

'It has nothing to do with it. I am saying it very sincerely: I do not know if Dorin Cocos received money, I do not know. I know he took part in a discussion, it so resulted from the file, from what I've seen, but it did not result that a transfer of money had also taken place, but the discussion about money was as it is cited in the declaration of one or two witnesses', Basescu explained.AGERPRES
