Independent candidate in the presidential elections Calin Popescu Tariceanu, running with the support of the Liberal Reformist Party (PLR), has stated that after consultations at the level of the leadership of the party a decision will be made regarding how to vote in the second round.

"The votes I have received mean a certain obligation on my part and on my colleagues' part. We must, after a consultation I will do at the level of the party's leadership structures, make a decision on how to vote in the second round and how to urge our sympathizers and followers to vote in the second round", said Tariceanu, on Sunday evening at a press conference.

The PLR leader thanked the citizens for the gesture they made by going to the polls.

"I want to thank all those who have granted me their trust. They have granted me their trust not only as a person, but they put their hopes and trust in the project that I have presented to Romanians — Romania, seventh power in Europe — a project that seems absolutely necessary for our country. The results I have obtained is only at the level of the exit-polls and we all expect with feverishness the results after the vote count that will, most probably, appear tomorrow morning (e.n. — Monday), as we expect at that time on a high percentage of votes counted", said Tariceanu.

He went on to add that the "Romania, seventh power in Europe" project is not a project to be abandoned: "It is a project I will fight for until the end because I believe that Romania needs such a project in order to be able to progress and head in the direction that should be, I would say, wanted and to settle in the place that Romania must have in Europe".
