BEC - partial results: Ponta 40.01 pct, Iohannis 30.54 pct

Incumbent Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party - National Union for Romania's Progress - Conservative Party alliance got 40.01 percent of the votes in the first round of the presidential elections on Sunday, while Christian Liberal Alliance's candidate Klaus Iohannis got 30.54 percent, according to partial data released by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) at 9 a.m., based on information centralized until 7 a.m. that were collected from 17,213 polling stations, accounting for 91.33 percent of all polling places.

Following are independent Calin Popescu-Tariceanu — 5.46 percent, and the People's Movement Party chair Elena Udrea — 5.17 percent, independent candidate Monica Macovei who got 4.51 percent and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania candidate Kelemen Hunor with 3.66 percent.
