Talks with IMF started
BELGRADE - Official talks between a delegation of Serbia, led by National Bank (NBS) Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic and Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic, and of the IMF, led by Zuzana Murgasova, started at the NBS on Tuesday.
The topics include ways of reaching a sustainable level of public debt, monetary policy, financial sector, structural reforms, labour market reforms, employment in the public sector, restructuring of government companies and Serbia's macroeconomic future, according to a release from the NBS.
The IMF delegation will stay in Belgrade until November 20 and conduct consultations related to Article IV of the IMF Statute and discuss an economic programme that would be supported by a new arrangement with the IMF.
The consultations on Articla IV of the IMF Statute have to be conducted with all members of the IMF once a year.
The previous consultations with Serbia were held in May 2013.
The talks with the IMF will include the macroeconomic situation in the country and the goals and measures of the Serbian government's economic policy in the future, which should form the base for a new arrangement with the IMF.
