French investors invited to invest in projects in Belgrade

BELGRADE - Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali called on French investors in the talks with French Prime Minister Manuel Valls to put their funds in infrastructure projects, including the major metro construction project, in the Serbian capital.

One of the biggest projects in Belgrade is the construction of the metro and Belgrade considers it very important that France has expressed interest in participation in the project, the mayor said presenting the Belgrade metro project to the French prime minister.

The release issued after the meeting in the Belgrade City Assembly states that the Belgrade mayor presented to the French prime minister several capital projects in Belgrade which should be implemented in the next few years.

The meeting also covered the participation of French investors in the project of waste management, reconstruction and completion of construction of the water supply and sewage system and airport concession.

The talks also covered the need to expand the Belgrade airport.

Valls noted that French companies have extensive experience and knowledge which Belgrade can use in the projects.

Valls invited Mali to come to the meeting with Paris Mayor Anne Idalgo so as to confer with French companies interested in major infrastructure projects.

The French prime minister presented the Belgrade mayor with a copy of the telegram sent by French Marshal and honorary duke of the Serbian and Yugoslav Army Louis Franchet d'Esperey to Belgrade which declared that the City of Belgrade is presented with the most important French decoration, the Legion of Honour.

Belgrade is one of four cities outside French borders to earn the award.
