Iohannis: My priorities - national security, performing economy and changing the way politics is done
The candidate of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) in the presidential elections, Klaus Iohannis, has stated that his priorities, if he won the highest office in the state, would be national security, transforming the economy into a "well performing" economy and changing the way politics is done in Romania.
"The President must come with a vision for Romania and, at the moment, in the complicated geopolitical context in which we find ourselves we have several priorities that can be defined as main priorities. First comes national security, which must be a prime objective, it must be a concern not only for the President, but for all the institutions involved in this domain. A second priority, that is related to the first, is the economy of Romania. We must succeed, on very short term, to transform Romania's economy from an economy in technical recession into a well performing economy. This is not an electoral slogan, it's a national necessity, because otherwise we will not be in a situation where we can handle the risks that we see all around us. A third priority, for me and the Romanian citizen, is to change the way politics is done in Romania. This is the offer I am making to the electorate, I want to change the way politics is done, in order to be better performing, to be a settled country, in order to have a Romania of respect, of prosperity and of jobs", said Iohannis on Thursday in an interview granted to Radio Romania News.
In what regards the Constitution of Romania, the ACL candidate emphasized that it is not a "bad" one, compared to the constitutions of other states, but he would like to amend the regulations regarding the President's immunity. AGERPRES
