Candidate of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) in the Sunday's presidential runoff election Klaus Iohannis said upon leaving the polling station that he has voted for a Romania of respect and prosperity, for a strong Romania.'

He added that he is pinning his biggest hopes on this election. Asked by a journalist if he is nervous, he said, 'Yes. I confess I am nervous even today. I hope it will be a wonderful day for us all.'

Iohannis voiced conviction that more Romanians will turn out to vote in the runoff election than in the first round of the election.

'More voters will turn out to vote today. Voter turnout data indicate a higher turnout than in the first round. And we can see a very large turnout in the Diaspora. I have already get messages from very many polling stations abroad that there are very many people anxiously waiting to vote. I hope the situation of the first round will not repeat itself. I will be carefully monitoring,' said Iohannis.

The ACL candidate said he came to the polling station right from the church, where he was accompanied by his wife, Carmen.

Upon arriving at the polling stations, Iohannis was welcomed by tens of Sibiu voters who had already voted but who heard from journalists that Iohannis was expected to show up. They shouted the name of the Sibiu mayor, gave him a round of applause and wished him good luck.
