Polling stations in Romania close

Voting has ended for the second round of the presidential elections, on Sunday evening, at 21.00.

The over 18.000 polling stations organized at a national level have closed. Voting took place between 7.00 and 21.00.

For the presidential elections 18.553 polling stations were organized on the territory of Romania, with Romanian citizens abroad exercising their right to vote in 294 polling stations.

Voter turnout nationwide in Sunday's presidential runoff election as of 19:00hrs, EET, was 58.66 percent, according to data released by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC).

In the urban areas, turnout was 57.50 percent, while turnout in the countryside was 60.23 percent and in Bucharest City 60.25 percent.AGERPRES
