Dacic, Khalifa call for strengthening Serbia-Algeria ties

BELGRADE - Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and Chairman of the People's National Assembly in the Algerian Parliament Mohamed Larbi Ould Khalifa met in Belgrade Monday and agreed there was need to strengthen the traditionally good bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy and culture.

The two officials said it was also necessary to improve cooperation between the parliaments of Serbia and Algeria and to exchange high-level visits more often, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a release.

Dacic pointed to the ties between Serbia and Algeria in the Non-Aligned Movement, and stressed the importance of the organization to the world.

Khalifa stressed Algeria's position of not recognizing Kosovo independence, unilaterally proclaimed by ethnic Albanians in the southern Serbian province, and Dacic him thanked for that, according to the release.
