Business environment is improving
BELGRADE - Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbian deputy prime minister and minister of transportation, construction and infrastructure, stated on Friday that the business environment in Serbia is improving, adding that the government is open for entrepreneurs' proposals for its further improvement and strengthening of the economic sector.
Serbia is on the right track, and this is proved by the beginning of implementation of the fiscal consolidation, the public sector reform and the agreement with the IMF on a new arrangement, which is a signal to investors that the things are moving in the right direction, Mihajlovic said at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
At the presentation of results of the research carried out for the fourth year in the row by the USAID and the Chamber of Commerce on a sample of 1,000 companies from Serbia, Mihajlovic underlined that great efforts are being made to create a legal framework for doing business such as the preparation of a new law on planning and construction, which should improve complicated administrative procedures.
Milivoje Miletic, acting president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, underlined that the Serbian economy supports the reforms of the public sector and strengthening of the private sector, adding that the real sector, which lacks investments, needs to step up competitiveness.
The event is attended by U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby, Chief of Party of USAID Business Enabling Project Joe Lauter, President of the Independent Syndicate of Serbia Ljubisav Orbovic, President of the United Professional Trade Unions "Independence" Branislav Canak and numerous businessmen.
