Galatasaray supporters boo moment of silence for Ivkovic

ISTANBUL - Supporters of Turkish basketball club Galatasaray behaved disgracefully before the start of a national championship match against Besiktas by booing a moment of silence for a recently murdered supporter of Belgrade's Crvena Zvezda in Istanbul.

The Turkish Basketball Federation had decided that all Turkish Basketball League matches on Sunday start by observing a minute of silence right before the tip-off to pay respects to the 25-year-old Marko Ivkovic, but the Galatasaray supporters turned a deaf ear to the decision, causing a new scandal with the shameful behavior.

Galatasaray's coach Ergin Ataman attempted to calm the crowd after they started to loudly chant "Turkey, Turkey" when the minute of silence had passed.

Marko Ivkovic was stabbed to death ahead of a Euroleague match between Galatasaray and Crvena Zvezda in Istanbul on November 21.
