Supreme Court to rule today on ex DIICOT head's appeal to preventive detention decision

The High Court of Cassation and Justice will weigh on Thursday the appeal filed by former head of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) Alina Bica to her being held in preventive detention.

On the same day the Supreme Court will judge the appeals filed by other three persons remanded with Bica in the same case, specifically expert assessor Emil Nutiu, Lacramioara Alexandru and Dragos Bogdan.

On November 22, Alina Bica, Emil Nutiu, Lacramioara Alexandru and Dragos Bogdan were remanded in custody for 30 days, but the decision was not final.

The four sat on the Central Compensation Commission of the National Agency for Property Restitution (ANRP), which approved in March 2011 the payment to businessman Stelian Gheorghe of 377,282,300 lei in compensation for a land plot of 13.0535 hectares located in the Plumbuita neighborhood of Bucharest, although the real price of the land was far lower.

Ex ANRP head Crinuta Dumitrean was also put under preventive detention in the same case. AGERPRES
