Beşiktaş takes lead in Spor Toto Super League
BeÅiktaÅ took over the top spot in the Spor Toto Super League standings with a hard-fought victory against Kardemir Karabükspor.
The Istanbul clubâs Senegalese Demba Ba striker scored twice for the visiting Black Eagles as they beat Karabükspor 2-1 yesterday to move to the top of the table with 23 points.
Karabüksporâs single goal came just seven minutes before the final whistle and was scored by midfielder Musa ÃaÄıran.
Meanwhile, during stoppage time, BeÅiktaÅ striker Mustafa Pektemek received a red card after a harsh sliding tackle.
In yesterdayâs other league game, Trabzonspor trashed visiting GençlerbirliÄi 4-1 to win its second game in a row under new coach Ersun Yanal.
Trabzonsporâs Paraguayan player Oscar Cardozo was the hero of the night for the home side, scoring a hat-trick. Ãzer Hurmacı added one more for the home side, while GençlerbirliÄiâs only goal came from Mervan Ãelik.
With three goals yesterday, Cardozo climbed to the second spot in the top scorers list of the Spor Toto Super League with eight, one goal behind top scorer Theofanis Gekas of Akhisar Belediye.
BeÅiktaÅâs Ba is in the third spot with seven goals.
