Government initiates privatisation of Zelezara Smederevo

BELGRADE - The Serbian government decided on Thursday to initiate the privatisation of the steel company Zelezara Smederevo by using the model of strategic partnership through capital increase and by public bidding.

The deadline for submission of offers is January 5, 2015, the privatisation documentation will cost EUR 10,000 and all bidders are required to deposit EUR 100,000 to confirm the seriousness of their offer, the government office for media relations has stated.

The government decided that all government owned creditors of Zelezara Smederevo would discard all claims recorded by December 31, 2013 provided that the capital increase be successful.

A committee for the implementation of the strategic partnership model was formed, along with the qualification requirements and ranking criteria for bids. The government ordered the Privatisation Agency to prepare an instruction document for the bidders, the statement says.
