Belgrade gets new hotel - Radisson Blu Old Mill

BELGRADE - A new hotel, Radisson Blu Old Mill, has opened in Belgrade, and Mayor Sinisa Mali expects it to boost the hotel supply in the Serbian capital, which he says is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists.

Belgrade is one of the rare cities in the world where the number of tourists has increased compared to last year, specifically, by 14 percent, Mali said as the hotel opened late Tuesday.

"Apparently, we are becoming increasingly attractive to tourists as a city. The fact that hotel accommodation capacities are keeping up with that growth is a good thing," Mali said, noting that Radisson Blu Old Mill is Belgrade's 76th hotel.

The Radisson Blu Old Mill hotel is a project of the Vienna-based Soravia Group, which has been active in Serbia since 2008.

Using a EUR 55 million budget and the remains of the Old Mill, a Belgrade cultural monument damaged in a fire in 1994, the Group managed to blend the project design into the existing building excellently.

Radisson Blu Old Mill is a part of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which has 1,352 hotels in 108 countries around the world, the hotel's manager Toma Svica said.
