BELGRADE - Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Jorgovanka Tabakovic talked in Belgrade with a delegation of the China Development Bank (CDB) on Wednesday, which voiced readiness to step up the bank's presence in the Serbian market, and take part in the financing of various projects.
Representatives of the NBS and the CDB expressed their satisfaction with collaboration in implementing intergovernmental agreements thus far and the expectation that successful cooperation will continue on new intergovernmental projects.
As stated in the NBS release, China has increased the scope of its economic cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs), and especially so over the last decade.
The CDB, as one of the three largest banks supporting the strategic goals of the economic policy of the People's Republic of China, takes part in the financing of joint ventures, especially in the field of infrastructure, industry and agriculture.
The representatives of the CDB expressed willingness to increase their presence in the Serbian market through participation in similar ventures.
The delegation, which is taking part in the Third Meeting of Heads of Government of China and CEECs, is being led by CDB President Hu Huaibang.
The meeting provided an opportunity for them to share experiences and views on current external and internal challenges faced by the two countries, as well as on the importance of investment and economic cooperation for stepping up growth and overcoming negative effects of the global economic crisis.
