Constanta Muslims celebrate birth of Prophet Muhammad

The 22,000 Muslims of Constanta (southeastern Romania, on the Black Sea shore) celebrate on Friday the birth of Prophet Muhammad, a holiday called Mevlid Kandili in the Turkish-influenced local tradition.

The event is to begin in the afternoon with a public religious service at the Kumluk Mosque of Piata Chilia neighbourhood; Mufti Muurat Iusuf, the head of the Muslim Cult of Romania, will recite verses of the Quran.
