Dragnea states that Geoana and Vanghelie sabotaged PSD during electoral campaign

The executive chairman of the Social Democrat Party (PSD), Liviu Dragnea, stated, on Wednesday evening, that the main reason for which Mircea Geoana and Marian Vanghelie were expelled from the party was that they sabotaged the activity ongoing during the presidential election campaign, it being "the straw that broke the camel's back" due to "several reasons" that appeared previously.

"There were many reasons, but the most important reason was what we all knew, which is the straw broke the camel's back, namely that during the European Parliament and Presidential election campaigns, Marian Vanghelie did not work for the party, doing quite the opposite, and during the presidential campaign Mircea Geoana too had the same position. They had meetings with those in PNL-PDL [the National Liberal Party ? the Democratic Liberal Party], Marian Vanghelie asked some to gather signatures for some candidate in the elections to the European Parliament. All of this was known. Also during the election campaign, when everybody was connected to the presidential elections, they were calling the leaders in the counties in order to discuss what happens to the party afterwards. These things were said in the National Executive Committee meeting. They firstly said no. After several county leaders confirmed this, they obviously had nothing more to say," said Dragnea at private television broadcaster Realitatea TV.

Asked if he can say that the two sabotaged the party, he confirmed. "I am not saying this, it's a certainty, everybody knew this, because otherwise there wouldn't have been (...), with two exceptions, a unanimous vote in the National Executive Committee", said Dragnea.
