- There was no time for waiting. We took the loan and got ourselves into the program of artificial insemination. We paid ten installments, and we have 26 more, but now we have our daughters Helena, Sara and Danica. -

This is the life story of Marija and Miroslav Petrovi? from Pukovac, small village in Serbia, near Doljevac.

 

Artificial insemination succeeded from first attempt, but even if it didn't, they would try again, says Marija. They would take another loan, even her monthly salary is 30.000 dinars (about 250 euros) and her husband, a painter, doesn't have permanent employment.

 

- After five years of stuggling and trying to have a baby, there is no quiting option, even if the only solution is artificial insemination, and you don't have enough money to pay for it. We hoped to get into the program financed by the Serbian government, but at the end we started our treatment in private clinic in Leskovac, at dr Miodrag Stojkovi? - Marija says for "Blic."

 

They gave a lot of money for necessary analysis, and then there was no going back.

 

- There was no other solution. We went to the bank and file an aplication for loan. We needed 345.000 dinars. But, because my salary is only 30.000 dinars, the highest loan we could get was 280.000. Luckily, our friend borrowed us the remaining part - Marija says.

 

- So, from the bank we went straight to the hospital. With great hope and faith that we will become parents, we got into artificial insemination program in April 17th - Marija remembers.
