DS leader takes part in PES Presidency meeting

BELGRADE - A delegation of the Democratic Party (DS) headed by party leader Bojan Pajtic has taken part in a working meeting of the Presidency of the Party of European Socialists (PES), where they expressed their support of a view that pursuing economic policies relying exclusively on savings measures needs to come to an end as soon as possible.

The DS has said in a release that the party supports the position which the European Socialists presented to the public and institutions of the EU, according to which developing and boosting economy through job creation, instead of job destruction, is the only way out of crisis.

"The Greek elections are a result of mistakes made by Greek politicians, but also of Troika's wrong approach to the issue that only made the situation worse. The European social democrats insist on the need to identify the problem and address it accordingly," the DS said.

The PES Presidency is made up of representatives of the biggest European parties of the left and center-left, such as the British and the Dutch labor parties, German social democrats, and socialists in France, Spain, Portugal and Belgium.

Vladimir Todoric, international secretary of the DS, was also on the delegation.
