Deutsche Welle: SYRIZA and cremation in Greece (video)
Greeks who want to be cremated after their death have a problem: there's not a single crematorium in the country. That's mainly because the Greek-Orthodox Church is strongly opposed to cremation. Economic hardships means that few can afford a private grave. Seeing this, the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government is expected to address this problem and offer a permit before the year is out in order to stop cremation tourism and to lead to further secularisation of the state.
