India and Serbia joined by bonds of friendship

BELGRADE - Indian Ambassador to Serbia Narinder Chauhan visited the recently opened tourism fair in Belgrade and welcomed the numerous guests at the India pavilion, including Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

Serbia and India are joined by the bonds of longstanding friendship, said Chauhan, expressing her satisfaction with India's participation in the 37th International Fair of Tourism in Belgrade, which was declared open on Thursday.

The tourism fair in Belgrade is the second largest in Europe and it is very important for India to take part in such an event, the Indian ambassador told Tanjug on Thursday.

The ambassador pointed to the traditionally strong bonds between Serbia and India, adding that she is glad to see Serbians show great interest in many things coming from India - from products, food, clothes, to lifestyle, culture, and even TV shows.

Noting that the two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in tourism, Chauhan recalled that a photography contest named 'My Land, My People' was held recently with an aim to bring the nations of Serbia and India closer together.

The pavilion of 'Incredible India' also hosted a reception to mark the Day of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program 'ITEC 2015'.

As part of this program, young professionals from Serbia are offered the opportunity to attend advanced training courses in India.

India's pavilion showcases its vast tourism potential, local textiles and handicrafts, as well as the country's literature and art.

This year's International Fair of Tourism in Belgrade is held under the slogan 'Seize the Moment' and brings together 1,100 exhibitors from 50 countries.
