Liberals ask for Premier Ponta and FinMin Valcov's resignation
National Liberal Party (PNL) deputy Andreea Paul asks for the resignation of Finance Minister Darius Valcov and Prime Minister Victor Ponta for "attempting to transform the Tax Code into a political instrument."

"Together with Eugen Nicolaescu and PNL's parliamentary group I publicly ask Finance Minister Darius Valcov and Prime Minister Victor Ponta to resign for attempting to turn the Tax Code into a political instrument. Romania isn't Cuba. In Cuba, every season they announce an 'economic revolution' ? sugarcane harvesting is such an example. In Romania, Ponta proposes us a revolutionary tax campaign, in his case improved collections and tax incentives, while he is directly responsible for the loss of tens of thousands of jobs as an effect of the generated fiscal chaos," Andreea Paul told a press conference.
She argued that Premier Victor Ponta's "tax blueprint" is used just as a political tool.
"His approach is met with disbelief. His serious image issues and lack of credibility result in Prime Minister Ponta's two-faced attitude which, just as every time, proves toxic for Romania. Tax promises cannot make up for the Premier's resignation," said the Liberal MP.
In her opinion, "Ponta is trying again to delude the Romanians by promising them tax relief, but hiding the fact that the burden will be placed on the shoulders of the middle class." Andreea Paul said that a project as ample as the new Tax Code cannot be up for public debate for just ten days, when the law provides for at least 30 days.
