Serbian ambassador to U.S. presents credentials
WASHINGTON -- Serbia's Ambassador to the United States Djerdj Matkovic has presented his credentials to U.S. President Barack Obama.
This was announced on the website of the Serbian diplomatic mission in Washington
Before leaving for Washington, Matkovic, a long-time diplomat, served as Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic's special adviser.
He recently said that in his new post he will focus on economic cooperation.
Prior to taking office on February 21, Matkovic told the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Serbian parliament that representing Serbia in Washington as part of the country's OSCE chairmanship is one of his major tasks.
"Serbia is expected to be neutral and transparent, and defend the principles of that organization," Matkovic said.
