Public sector to be cut by 15,000 employees in 2015
KOPAONIK - Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Kori Udovicki has said that a program to cut the number of employees in Serbia's public sector would most probably be adopted in April, and it could be anywhere between 7,000 and 15,000 in 2015.
Udovicki told reporters at the Kopaonik Business Forum in southern Serbia on Wednesday that the program, which is being prepared in cooperation with the World Bank, would establish precisely the numbers to be cut in all branches of industry.
Udovicki stressed that the layouts were not an objective in themselves. The goal is rather to breath a new life into the public sector and offer citizens better services, she said.
Please, understand that we cannot be too exact when we are speaking about months here, as the process is very complex and involves decisions concerning many people, somewhere between 7,000 and 15,000, Udovicki said.
