Andrei Gerea: Negotiations about Units 3 and 4 at Cernavoda are advancing slowly; investors still fearful
Negotiations about Units 3 and 4 at Cernavoda (nuclear power plant in southeastern Romania) are advancing pretty slowly, with investors still being fearful, but we are hoping that we will be able to provide the best conditions so that these units may be finished as soon as possible,' Andrei Dominic Gerea, the Minister of Economy, said on Monday at an event organised by the Nuclear Agency and for Radioactive Waste (NAWR), in cooperation with the Deputies' Chamber.

'We want to see the Units 3 and 4 at Cernavoda completed as soon as possible. Negotiations, however, especially in such fields of activity and in times of economic downturn, with the global financial crisis still being felt, are advancing rather slowly. Investors are still fearful, but we hope that we will be able to provide the best conditions to them, so that these units may be finished as soon as possible,' said Gerea.
According to him, the Romanian nuclear energy sector represents, through the technological particularities of the technical solutions adopted and through the technical-economic performance indicators, the best solution for meeting the sustainable economic development demands and for satisfying the current demand in electricity. Moreover, he specified that the authorities will continue with the nuclear programme.
The projects that refers to the reactors 3 and 4 at Cernavoda is currently estimated to be worth 6.45 billion euros. However, the feasibility study based on which this amount was calculated in the first place is to be revised soon. AGERPRES
