Selakovic: Detailed plan for Chapter 23 next week

BELGRADE- Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic announced that the Ministry would file the third draft action plan for negotiating chapter 23 next week, which will be the most detailed version drafted in collaboration with over 45 different institutions.

Addressing a session of the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, Selakovic said that Chapter 23 is a political chapter and added that its gravity lies in the fact that a large number of issues currently in discussion are not covered in the EU aquis.

He underscored that the goal is ensure that the judiciary in Serbia is independent, unbiased and efficient.

He said that the Justice Ministry, judiciary, Public Prosecutor's Office and the law practice are trying to strengthen the Judicial Academy which is also important for the judiciary reform.
