Bulgaria's Economy Minister to Chair Newly Established National Economic Council

A National Economic Council will advise Bulgaria's Council of Ministers on determining and implementing the country's economic policy.

According to the press office of the government, the new Council will analyze and propose measures to support innovations and investment activities aimed at boosting the competitiveness of Bulgaria's economy.

The Council will draw up recommendations and advise the government on issues related to the overall economic development of the country.

Apart from that, the unit will develop and propose economic and legal regulators to encourage investment activity, as well as organize, analyze, and control the interaction between executive organs, other public authorities, and business representatives.

The new Council will be chaired by the Economy Minister and it will bring together deputy ministers from different ministries and the chairs of the national employers' associations.

The chairs of parliamentary standing committees and the heads of parliamentary groups involved in the implementation of the program of the government will also contribute to the work of the Council.
