Bulgarian Military Arms with New Unmanned Planes

The Bulgarian military is preparing to arm itself with a new model of unmanned airplanes or so-called drones.

It is expected that Bulgaria's land forces are to receive tactical unmanned aerial system Scout in the beginning of April.

This emerged from the annual report on the state of Bulgaria's armed forces in 2014, daily Sega reports.

More information is not provided and the concrete model does not become clear, as there are different unmanned planes bearing this name.

Both the US Northrop Grumman and the Canadian Aeryon Labs companies have products bearing this name.

The unmanned plane is used for stationing of troops and ensuring high mobility, as it can conduct intelligence flights at low altitudes.

The unmanned plane can be operated manually or it can be programmed to conduct independent flights.

This is the second model of unmanned planes that the military arms with, as last year Bulgaria's land force were provided with the lightweight unmanned intelligence system RQ-11 Raven.

RQ-11 Raven is produced by the US AeroVironment company, has a weight of 1.9 kilogrammes, has a flight duration of 60-90 minutes and can be controlled from a distance of 10 kilometres.

The Raven, which was delivered to Bulgaria as US military aid, can develop speed from 32 do 81 kilometres per hour.
