Two accused of swindling elderly by claiming relatives were in accident

Two Thessaloniki men, aged 33 and 47, were to face a prosecutor on Thursday on fraud charges after they allegedly swindled a total of 28,000 euros from two elderly people by pretending to be a doctor and a lawyer and telling their victims that their relatives had been involved in car accidents.

The suspects told one of the victims that a relative had been injured in a car crash and the other that a relative had caused a road accident, according to sources.

In both cases, the alleged perpetrators demanded money from their victims to cover the cost of legal representation and medical treatment, the sources said.
