Bear cub captured in central Romania city

Officers of the Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) captured a bear cub in an uninhabited area, after it ran for several hours on the streets of this city in central Romania.

"We got five calls at [the emergency number] 112 from Sibiu people who told us they saw the bear cub. It was located and we asked for the help of a veterinarian of the zoo, with a tranquilizer gun," ISU spokesperson Bianca Sabau told AGERPRES.

No one has complained so far of being wounded by the young bear.

This was the first time a wild bear was seen on the streets of Sibiu; such incidents have often occurred in the city of Brasov, 140 kilometres east. AGERPRES
